On 17th of May 2003 the Mercat de La Vila reopened its doors. It did so in the same place where it had been since 1947 but in a new, attractive and modern building. The Mercat is the perfect display for local products and also one of the gastronomic attractions, as far the town's food trade is concerned. Visiting or shopping at the Mercat de La Vila is a real pleasure: vegetables, fish, meat, salted meats, preserves, bread, pastries, cured meats and sausages, pickles, frozen foods, wines, special beers, vermut, oils, honey... A wide range of products that turn some of the market shops into real spectacles of colour, flavour, tradition and authenticity.
At the Mercat de La Vila, you can also eat. At its canteen you can enjoy whatever you fancy: black pudding, prawns... you just have to buy it and they will prepare it for you at the time. Some of the shops, following the new trends of modern gastronomic markets, prepare some of their products in small portions, so you can eat them "in situ" comfortably: salted meats, cheeses, boiled seafood, cured sausages...
